The Lord Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ

The person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ may be identified from His various names and or titles. Apart from the title ‘Lord’ and ‘Christ’ He is also known as LORD, God, Messiah, King of kings, Lord of lords, Creator, Judge, Saviour, Redeemer, Son of man, Son of God, The Great Shepherd. All the names or titles by which He is known say something about both His person and work. As ‘LORD’ He is identified as equal to God and of the same essence as God the Father and God the Spirit. As ‘Lord’ with small o, r and d He is the ruler over every thing in the creation. As the ‘King of kings’ He is sovereign over all and has a Kingdom with those belonging to it from among men and angels. As ‘Jesus, the ‘Saviour’ and ‘Redeemer’ He is the ‘lamb of God’ chosen from before the foundation of the world to die on behalf of sinners. As the ‘Great Shepherd’ He is identified as He that came to seek and save the lost, as ‘Son of man’ He identifies with humanity having taken upon Himself our humanity so as to reconcile us to God thorough His vicarious death. As the ‘Son of God’ He is declared with power to be the eternally begotten Son by God the Father.

The Lord Jesus Christ is not only the central subject of Christianity but also the central point of both time and eternity. Without Him there would be no creation or Christianity. He is the central subject not just of the Old and New Testament scriptures but also of Heaven. To know Him is to know the truth. To have Him is to have everything. Conversely not knowing Him is to hold on to a lie. To not have Him is the greatest tragedy. The Lord Jesus Christ is not remote from humanity as other so called ‘founders’ of other religions. He instead gives eternal life to all who humbly acknowledge their sins and who come to Him in repentance and faith. He says in the Holy Scriptures that ‘For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.’

Have you put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and come to Him trusting in His shed blood of Calvary’s cross. Do you have a personal relationship with Him and do you have that assurance that when you die you shall be with Him forever. If not why not? What hinders you from coming to Him? He again says in His Word that: ‘Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’ True peace of mind and heart comes from believing in the Lord Jesus. There is no other who can give true joy, peace and rest in the midst of this world in turmoil.
